Dr. Sarah Lewis

Sarah is an esteemed champion for excellence in education and leadership with 20 years of impact across multiple regions and roles. She has been called upon for her expertise in organizational and people leadership, school culture strategy and structuring, and executive coaching. As Executive Director of Achievement Prep, Dr. Lewis oversees its program, resources, and results. With the support of families, educators, and community stakeholders, she has improved teacher retention rates; strengthened a fiscally sound program; advocated for funding equity to State Boards and Committee of the Whole, while adeptly addressing the unique needs of trauma-sensitive populations and the increasing demands of a changing educational landscape.

Prior to joining Achievement Prep as Chief of Schools in 2019, she served as Principal and Senior Leader within other Charter Management Organizations and districts. Her extensive experience in data analysis, program development, and coaching are codified in her workbook titled, “The Educator’s Workbook: Core Keys to Classroom Success”. Her deep commitment to pay it forward is also evidenced in collaborative efforts on the Ed Council of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, National Alliance of Black School Educators, National Association for the Education of Young Children to name a few.

Equitable access to education is a driving force in Lewis’ career, and she actively advocates for underrepresented children and educators, striving to debunk negative stigmas and create opportunities for all.

Lewis received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Education from Hampton University and Doctorate in
Educational Leadership from Walden University.
