– IMPORTANT UPDATE –

Dear Platinum Parents,

Together, we made it through one full week of virtual instruction!  We are well ahead of our competitor schools because of our committed team, engaged platinum parents and our amazing scholars!  This is a testament to your determination to push through on even the most challenging days; accountability in getting your scholar up and ready to learn on time; and enthusiasm for getting our scholars’ brains stronger! Thank you for partnering with us in this important work.

During the week of September 14th, we will facilitate mandatory NWEA MAP testing for every scholar.  The NWEA MAP assessment provides a baseline for where scholars are academically, when and how they have grown, and identify where they still need additional support.  We will facilitate the NWEA MAP assessment four (4) times this school year.  

NWEA MAP testing MUST happen in-person.  We thank you in advance for supporting making sure this happens for your scholar.  Each grade level will be assigned a day where they will come to the school,  in-person to take their test.  Due to social distancing requirements and to ensure the health and safety of all,  you MUST come on your scheduled date, on-time, to minimize contact with others.  We can not be flexible.  We will follow very strict health and safety guidelines.  Virtual testing is not an option.

As we close-out the first week of virtual school, we’ve learned quite a bit about what’s working well and what needs some additional attention.  And, we cannot let the year go on without responding to the feedback you and our staff have provided.  We’ve set big goals for our teachers and our scholars, despite the pandemic, and we must make sure the proper support and resources are in place for success.  We will use September 16th to improve our program.

As you see above, scholars will engage in independent work on Wednesday, September 16th.  This means that we will not have any live classes with teachers on this day BUT scholar learning will still happen and our scholars should still log on and learn for the day.  The essential worker classrooms will not be available, and scholars in those classrooms must work from home.  Your scholar’s teacher will send you the schedule for Wednesday, September 16th.  Scholars will complete work on iReady for ELA/Math, Epic, and catch up on any missed classwork or DREAMWork.
