IMPORTANT UPDATE:

End of School Year and New Learning Materials

April 22, 2020

Dear Achievement Prep Families,

Over the past five weeks, our community has come together in incredible ways to support and care for one another, while also practicing self care.  We are so proud to be a part of such a strong and resilient network of families – we will get through this together.

It is with deep sadness that due to COVID-19, Achievement Prep will not reopen the building this school year.  In response to Mayor Bowser’s COVID-19 recommendations, Achievement Prep will align with DCPS and conclude the school year on Friday, May 29, 2020 (SEE ABOVE AND BELOW FOR IMPORTANT DATES).  This decision was not made lightly; we understand the impact this has on our families, especially those who rely on us for essential support and services.  Every family is facing unique challenges and circumstances and our top priority is your scholar’s wellbeing.  Please review the below updates for Quarter 4 and beyond.

NEW DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP DATES!

As a reminder, scholars are expected to complete ELA and math materials provided to date by this Friday, April 24th, which marks the end of Quarter 3 (Q3).  Any work submitted can only improve your scholar’s Q3 grade.  Scholars who do not complete and submit distance learning work by the specified timeline will not be penalized and will receive the grade they earned as of March 13th, prior to the closure.  Please bring completed Q3 materials to the school during the below pick-up windows for grading.  Refer to Q3 Grading FAQ if you have questions about grading.  If you cannot physically drop-off materials at the school, please contact us to make alternate arrangements including uploading or emailing your materials.

Quarter 4 (Q4) begins Monday, April 27th and concludes Friday, May 22nd.  Q4 materials will be available digitally beginning Friday, April 24th at www.achievementprep.org/RemoteLearningWe will distribute hard copies of Q4 learning materials to scholars/families at the times and locations below:

The safety of our scholars and families remains our priority as we continue navigating this public health emergency together.  Therefore, Achievement Prep will not offer summer school, but will begin the 2020-2021 school year on Monday, August 3, 2020, if in line with public health guidelines.  More information is forthcoming, but we want you to be prepared for an earlier start date as you begin planning for summer.

Thank you for partnering with us in this work and balancing so many responsibilities.  We will continue to update you on what the public health guidance will mean for your family and our school community. If you have additional questions, please contact us at the school:
